Yesterday
Yesterday I had steak for dinner. It was a magnificent steak shared with a good friend.
Steak was followed by 45 minutes of power shopping. I neglected to buy a thing.
Shopping was followed by coffee. Delicious coffee from Roca Jacks – one of the best coffee places around.
Coffee was follwed by movies. The 6th Sense (which, surprizingly I’d never seen – but I figured it out after about 1/3 the way through) and How to lose a guy in 10 days.
Movies were followed by an uneventful drive home at 3 in the morning.
I like the night. I like sitting under the stars, the cool air just barely seeping through your clothes, the slightest breeze across your face. There I am content to stay a while. To breathe deeply, filling lungs with crisp air.
I like driving just as the sun begins to rise. To see light emerge from the darkness. To see the whole world take shape.
I like crazy, blustering storms. The wind howling around. Leaves whisked in tormented frenzy with never a moments rest. The sounds of the wind easing into a gentle rhythm.
I have come to treasure these things, these moments of solitude with God. For I wouldn’t have solitude any other way.
