I love hearing about what people are doing in their own communities to improve the world. The holiday season is noted for both its consumerism and the increase in charitable giving.

The UN recommends twenty to fifty litres of clean, safe water per person per day as a requirement for all humans [UN-Water]. Many people often think of this as an issue for people in developing countries.

The thing is, it is also a reality in our own country and communities.

Hauling lake water in buckets in the cold Canadian winter and in the hot and humid summers.

Without a water or sewer system, the human waste dumped on the garbage pile finds its way back into the lake; back into the home’s fresh water supply.
